Q: What does UTP mean?
A: UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. Unlike shielded cable, UTP relies on the twisting of the wire pairs to help reduce crosstalk and interference, making it an excellent choice for most residential and commercial network installations.
Q: When should I choose unshielded cable instead of shielded cable?
A: Unshielded cable is ideal for most installations where electromagnetic interference is minimal or non existent.
Q: What is the benefit of gel filled cable?
A: The gel filled core helps prevent moisture from traveling through the cable if the outer jacket is damaged, providing additional protection and long term reliability for direct burial installations.
Q: Can this cable be installed in conduit?
A: Yes. Although this cable is rated for direct burial, it can also be installed inside conduit when additional mechanical protection is preferred or required by local building codes.
Q: What is the maximum distance this cable can be run?
A: When properly installed and terminated, Cat6A cable supports channel lengths of up to 328 feet or 100 meters in accordance with ANSI TIA standards.
Q: Why are solid bare copper conductors important?
A: Solid bare copper conductors provide lower resistance, stronger signal transmission, and improved PoE performance compared to copper clad aluminum cable, making them the preferred choice for permanent Ethernet installations.
Q: What is the purpose of the cross filler?
A: The internal cross filler helps maintain consistent spacing between the twisted pairs, reducing crosstalk and supporting the high performance required for Cat6A Ethernet networks.
Q: Can this cable be used with PoE devices?
A: Yes. This cable supports PoE, PoE+, and PoE++ applications, making it suitable for IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones, access control devices, and other powered network equipment.
Q: What applications is this cable commonly used for?
A: This cable is commonly used for outdoor network installations, IP security cameras, wireless access points, building to building Ethernet connections, outdoor data networks, and other direct burial networking applications.
Q: Is this cable suitable for professional installations?
A: Yes. This Cat6A direct burial cable is trusted by network installers, electrical contractors, IT professionals, and system integrators for residential and commercial outdoor networking projects.
