Plenum cable has a higher fire retardant rating and is suitable to be installed in drop ceilings, between flooring and other plenum rated areas. Our cable's performance is up to 550 MHz and is suitable for Gigabit Ethernet, ATM and broadband video installs. Q: What are the recommended connectors for this cable?
A: For the best performance with shielded cable we recommended to use this cable with shielded connectivity. Such as shielded RJ45's or shielded Keystone Jacks. This makes sure your whole channel is protected from EMI.
Q: Can plenum cable be put inside the walls?
A: Cat6 shielded plenum cable can absolutely be put in the walls. Though created to be put in areas with air flow because of its higher fire retardant rating it can double the use of being installed in the walls or even risers.
Q: Does this cable have 100% pure copper conductors?
A: For our networking cables we wouldn't offer anything else. Our cable has solid pure copper conductors for the best performance and is in compliance with safety standards, building code, etc.
Q: How does the packaging come for different sizes?
A: Our 1000ft size comes on a strong wooden reel and our 250ft comes plastic wrapped for shorter runs.
Q: When should you use plenum cable?
A: Plenum cable is built for areas with air circulation such as drop ceilings, beneath flooring and HVAC. It has a higher fire retardant than Riser (CMR) cable which help eliminate the spread of flames and toxic smoke in air flow areas. You can also use this cable in Riser areas.
