A: S/FTP stands for Shielded Foiled Twisted Pair. Each twisted pair is individually wrapped in foil, while an overall braid surrounds all four pairs. This double shielded design provides excellent protection against electromagnetic interference and crosstalk.
Q: Why should I choose Cat8 instead of Cat6A?
A: Cat8 cable supports higher bandwidth up to 2000 MHz and is designed for 25 Gigabit and 40 Gigabit Ethernet applications over shorter distances. It is an excellent choice for data centers, server rooms, and other high performance network environments where maximum speed and shielding are important.
Q: Can this cable be installed outdoors?
A: Yes. The UV resistant jacket is designed to withstand outdoor environments and prolonged sunlight exposure, making it suitable for above ground outdoor Ethernet installations.
Q: Can this cable be installed inside walls?
A: Yes. The CMR riser rating allows this cable to be installed in vertical in wall applications between floors in residential and commercial buildings when installed in accordance with local building codes.
Q: Can this cable be buried underground?
A: No. Although this cable is rated for indoor and outdoor installations, it is not designed for direct burial. For underground installations, we recommend using a direct burial rated Ethernet cable.
Q: Why are 22 AWG solid bare copper conductors important?
A: The larger 22 AWG conductors provide lower electrical resistance, excellent signal transmission, and improved support for high power PoE applications while maintaining exceptional network performance.
Q: What is the maximum distance this cable can be run?
A: Cat8 is designed to support 25 Gigabit and 40 Gigabit Ethernet channel lengths up to 30 meters or 98 feet. For longer Ethernet runs, it also provides excellent performance for lower speed network applications.
